What to expect

Therapy

Meeting with a therapist allows you a safe and nonjudgemental space to openly explore life’s challenges, concerns, or anything that’s been taking up space in your mind. If your ability to do what you want and need is hindered by something, let’s chat about it.

Treatment Modalities

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT helps us see the link between our core beliefs, thoughts, feelings, and actions. Through this therapy, we collaborate to notice and adjust the difficult and challenging cognitive distortions (i.e. false thoughts, beliefs, attitudes) and behaviors we have, to ones that are more healthful. In then developing our emotional regulation and personal coping skills, we’re better able to navigate life’s challenges.

Motivational Interviewing (MI)

You know yourself best. To uncover your intrinsic truths and motivations, I use MI as a therapeutic tool to dive deeper and guide you to discover the answers that are already within you. Through my own therapeutic stance—asking thoughtful questions, offering helpful reflections, and highlighting your natural strengths along the way—we discover answers and a new path to create positive shifts of change, together.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is an evidence-based psychotherapy that can facilitate healing from symptoms caused by traumatic and disturbing life events.

We know that if our system is imbalanced by a disturbing event, the emotional wound festers and can create intense suffering. Once this blockage is removed, healing can resume. EMDR can help activate our natural healing process.

Insurance

Upon request, I can provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company, and you may be able to receive partial reimbursement for services.

Please check your coverage carefully by asking your health insurance provider the following questions:

  • Do I have mental health benefits?

  • How many sessions per calendar year does my plan cover?

  • How much does my plan cover for an out-of-network provider?

  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?

  • Is approval required from my primary care physician?
